Vehicle Valley Piemonte is Born: Piedmont Presents Itself to the World as a District of Excellence for Mobility

AN ALLIANCE BETWEEN COMPANIES, INSTITUTIONS, SCHOOLS, AND RESEARCH CENTERS TO PROMOTE PIEDMONTESE MOBILITY KNOW-HOW GLOBALLY
A new ambitious and strongly identity-driven project has taken shape: it is called Vehicle Valley Piemonte. Officially launched on March 27, 2025, with a press conference held on the 41st floor of the Piedmont Region Skyscraper, the association aims to gather Piedmont’s exceptional heritage in design, industry, technology, mechanics, and innovation within an international context. Its purpose is to promote collaboration among companies, institutions, design schools, and research centers, thereby shaping the mobility of tomorrow.
The establishment of VVP reflects this synergy among diverse entities. Among its founding members are two prestigious global brands in design and engineering, Italdesign and Pininfarina, alongside the Piedmont Region, and key representative bodies of the entrepreneurial fabric: the Chamber of Commerce of Turin, Unione Industriali Torino, API (Association of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) of Turin and Province, and CNA (National Confederation of Crafts and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) of the Metropolitan City of Turin. Together, they have brought to life an association that opens a new, bold chapter for the mobility sector, positioning Piedmont as an intangible component within vehicles worldwide.
Within this framework, the collaboration between industrial entities and training institutions represents a fundamental pillar for the future of a region where university institutions, research centers, and technological incubators form a dynamic educational system capable of attracting young talent. These young professionals must be able to find concrete employment opportunities here.
The vision and mission of the association were presented by President Monica Mailander:
“The objective is to create a dynamic growth platform where entities, companies, and research centers collaborate and share experiences to transform local know-how into a global competitive advantage. Vehicle Valley is an international ecosystem where mobility, design, and engineering converge – from automotive to aerospace and urban mobility – to promote innovation, making Piedmont a fundamental player in the creation of the next generation of vehicles and transport systems. It is a living laboratory of ideas, blending the region’s significant heritage with a constant drive towards the future.”
Piedmont has historically been one of the driving forces of the mobility industry in Italy. Today, it hosts over 700 companies active solely in automotive component manufacturing, accounting for 33.6% of the national total. The region can rely on a unique network of expertise spanning from design to engineering, from electric vehicles to software-defined vehicles, and extending to production and aerospace. Alongside historical names like Fiat and Lancia, innovative realities such as Bluengineering and key players like Thales Alenia Space, Leonardo, and Argotec are now emerging.
The Vehicle Valley project intends to leverage this industrial and cultural capital through concrete initiatives aimed at promotion, investment attraction, and territorial brand development. The association will serve as a cooperation hub for companies, research centers, and institutions, promoting joint projects, supporting the district’s participation in international fairs and events, and strengthening ties with major global players in the sector.
With the birth of Vehicle Valley Piemonte, a shared vision thus takes shape: to operate as a cohesive system to strengthen the region’s competitiveness and collectively build the future of mobility.
